Psychotherapy (sometimes called "talk therapy") explores past issues that gave way to present-day challenges. Psychotherapy is a term for a variety of treatment techniques that aim to help a person identify and change troubling emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Most psychotherapy takes place with a licensed, trained mental health professional and a patient meeting one-on-one. Currently we are only providing teletherapy services via a HIPAA compliant platform.
Under state and federal law, your counseling records are protected. The content of our session is strictly confidential. Information about you cannot be released without your written consent. However, under mandated law, there are exceptions to confidentiality. These exceptions include threat to harm self or others, child abuse/neglect, vulnerable adult abuse/neglect and court orders from a judge to release information. Additionally, insurance carriers often request and require oral or written case summaries as a condition of reimbursement. Also, if you were referred to me by another professional, I would like to notify them of your contact with me, unless you instruct me otherwise.
LCSW's cannot prescribe medications, however we work with various psychiatrist within the community and can refer you for evaluation for medication management.
Sessions are via teletherapy services only and are typically once a week or biweekly contingent upon clients and therapist availability. Sessions are typically between 45-50 minutes. We offer therapy services from 3-6 months. If issues are not resolved within that time frame client will be referred to another therapist for continued services.
